changing water?

how many times do i have to change the water per month? if i dont have anything in at all? Before I start adding live rock/fish.
I basically, have sand/crushed dead coral on the bottom and that's it.

Every other week is considered minimum; although, there are people that do it once a month. Basically you have to learn your system and what it takes to keep it stable.

Somehow I missed the part about not having anything other than sand in your tank. You can let it be until after you've added liverock. imho

Is there a reason you havn't added any liverock? If your cycling might as well add the rock and get it over with. If you wait the tank will cycle all over again. Just a suggestion.
