Question

Changing my sand bed

Hello all,
I have read bits and pieces of threads about removing sand but can not find a complete 'how to'.

So I need some help, I decided to change out the black sand for white and was told an easy way to do it was to just syphone the sand out. Well, I ended up doing a 21% water change and only got half of the sand out.

'I realize it would have been more effective to shop vac all the sand out but... this is the only option I have'

My question is can I do another 21% water change tomorrow to get the rest of the sand out without stressing my fish too much?

This forum needs a spell checker.

Thanks in advance.

How stressful it is depends on a couple of things. Is there some really nasty stuff in the bottom and is there live rock or other biofilter that is going to be in the tank? You don't want to remove all your bacteria in 2 days. Even if you have plenty of live rock feed sparingly for awhile just in case.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
