Change of plans, need advice again.
I was going to do a trigger in my 37 gallon, but I decided that instead, I am going to break down my 20 gallon hex tank and put those inhabitants into the 37 gallon. Now, I need to know what fish or two to put along with (and what order to introduce everyone):
a feisty gold stripe maroon clown (3 inches)
a four stripe damsel (2 inches)
chocolate chip starfish
coral banded shrimp.
So far after looking at scott W. Michael's marine fishes book, I came up with:
bicolor blenny for sure (I think)
maybe's include:
lemonpeel angel (too shy? compete with damsels for food?)
coral beauty
talbot's damsel
blue devil damsel
orchid dottyback
sunrise dottyback
or maybe one of the smaller less aggressive triggers? like sufflamen bursa (pallid triggerfish--requires 55 gallon tank but if I get a small one.....)
Will y'all please tell me what fish you keep with your maroons and/or damsels, and if you dont have them, what suggestions you may have? I want to think about this now while the tank's cycling and have my mind made up by the time its ready. Thanks!!!!

Not with a Blue Jaw or Sargassum. Those are the friendliest of the Triggers and was told they are somewhat reef safe, it's the somewhat I'm curious about. I had a Pink Tail once and it was a skitzoid. He got spooked one day, ran headfirst into a rock and killed himself. A Sargassum is what I'd really like, but really 50/50.

37 is a bit small for the triggers. They are swimmer. like room to roam and lots of rock.

I would agree. as far as reef-safe or not, i have read a really good article in marine and reef about some fish that are sort of reef safe. Basically, you can talor you care to help certain fish become reef safe. 90% of fish that each corals do so because of improper feeding. Keep that in mind because if there is a fish you really want, you may just have to take a little extra special care of it, if it is not 100% reef-safe.

Jeff

aw tims youre no fun.
but probably right. I think I will just add the bicolor and leave it at that especially since I cant come up with anything else that isnt too big or that the maroon and damsel wont harass. thanks again.

I would be concerned about the damsel and the moron clown (heh heh heh!) in the same tank...

theyve been together now for about a year, theyre ok. neither beats up on the other. the maroon just chases the damsel away from her little corner if it gets too close. since they were similar size and temperament i figured they could hold their own and in this case it worked out. now that they will have a larger tank it should be even better.
