Chalice questions
So I got this Chalice about 3 months ago (freebie)
It's in mod flow, med placement. The prob is color. it seems to always be kinda just a dull grey it does at times have hints of blue and rarely I will see extreemly BRIGHT orange. I see the color mostly when the halides are off. It's growing well about 2.5" now and it had about 5 mouths. But it's sooo boring. Why are the vibrant color rarely visible?

chris,
the halides are a bit strong for that type of coral. you would have to keep it down low in the tank to have it color up nicly. remember it is a night time feeder too, so watch out for sweepers with other corals around it.

thanks for the info Theres nothing on liveaquaria, marinecenter or marinedeoptlive about chalice corals. Do you know where I can find any info on them? also it has started to grow on the LR can I gently pull it off. I have a few shadowed places in the tank I can put it.

you can look inthe corals forum here for it, but i usually take a look in the books i have.
the plate will attach to the LR. most frags ( unless cut) come from breaking it or moving it. they will do fine in the lower part of the tank or resting on the bottom.
Do you know the name of yrou chalice?

No I don't knwo the name. The closest one I could find online was a blue/turquoise, but those didn't have the orange that I see. I guess I'll have to wait and see what the "true" color is.
I hope it's one of those $150 / 1" frag teypes

Can you get a pic of it at all? Might help with the ID, or helping to figure out if it's bleached or anything.

From that pic I agree with Tims,.. I think moving it down and slightly shading it is a good idea
