Oxyporas are a kind of chalice. In the chalice category there are echinoporas, echinophyllias, oxyporas, mycediums.. (did I miss one)???

Oxypora

Echinophyllia (notice there is a pink once, a purple/blue with pink eyes one, a demon red one (far to the right)

Echinopora

Mycedium

How to care for them... Umm they are really pretty easy, except for the fact that they can sure sting things! In my experience, I keep them at least a couple of inches away from other corals because they can send out sweepers.

They can handle a lot of flow. Mine are handling a lot right now, but I think they are a bit happier in moderate. Lighting is key... keep em in low light and if you want to see what color they will change with more, then give it a try. Some of mine like a lot of light, some don't. My red loves light, but the blue with pink eyes would prefer under a rock, etc. Mycediums really like low light in my experience.

thanks a lot for the pics and the info. The one I am interested in looks a lot like the echinophyllia and the echinopora

Notice the difference in the corralites of the echinopora and echinophyllia. Also.... generally an echinopora is fairly thin opposed to echinophyllia. (the latter is also more fleshy)
