You are feeding pretty heavy if you are feeding 2x's a day. Once a day is eavy, I only feed every other day, unless I have Tangs, then I feed Nori everyday.

What are you feeding BTW. Also, what are you using for top off water? do you have a skimmer? Need lots of info on your tank. The reason why you are having algae problems is due to excessive phosphates in your system. The likel source is from food and top off water. knowing these two items will help decipher which of the two are causing the issues and how they can be resolved.

ok, how old is the tank? what are you feeding, what is the TDS coming out of your RODI? I would recommend a bit more flow in your tank. Also, was your rock dry or live when you got it. If it was live, was it cured? If it was live or dry, did you go through the cooking process? Your issue is phosphates, now lets find out where they are coming from. My guess is from the feedings, and the flow allowing the food to settle. Is your sandbed Oolitic (small grains, size of large sugar grains) or Crushed Coral (larger, say 5mm+)... Did you use Live sand, or dry sand?

Ok... nix the flake food... that stuff is loaded with phosphates. I would recommend a different food, like Rod's...the frozen kinds of foods. I personally like the Onean Nutritions Formula 2 frozen, the new RDF formula...

Man I don't know why your chaeto died. FWIW I run my fuge light 24/7 (42 watt p/c 6500k) and it grows like a weed.

small sand its mixed on 80% dry 20% live. and my rock was live and it was as close to 100% cure as you can get it ( it was in the LFS main tank he had to pick corals off of it to get it for me and clams to
