cerith snails

Hey all!

First of all, I just love this forum... thanks for all being as addicted as I am... now... for the last 3 days my cerith snails have been laying eggs LIKE CRAZY!! I mean all 5 of them all over the rocks and glass. Is this normal, is it a sign of my water being good, bad or indifferent... will any of them actually hatch??? From time to time one of them has laid a few eggs.. but they are all doing it all over the place!! any ideas??

Thanks!
Jenni

it is a good sign. mine would do lay whenever the pH would get above 8.2. my other snails would spawn if there is an increase in the water temp. it means they like your system.

they will hatch in about 3-5 days, that is if they are not eaten. as for baby ones. i do not have any, but i siphon pretty heavily so they may not make it in my tank.

Hi Phish!

My snail eggs look like, for lack of a better description, very small white translucent Christmas ribbon candy. It is the same shape that the cerith snail eats, but he leaves this white "ribbon" as he goes. They are still laying them all over my tank, for an update.
