cerith snail is covered in tiny tiny polyp looking things

I have a cerith who's shell is completely covered in tiny polyp looking things. There is no way to get a photo because they are too small. They consist of a stock that is about the width of a hair and 5 - 6 tiny tentacles spreading out at the top that are probably thinner than a hair. They are only about 1/16th of an inch high. Any idea on what they are and will they harm the snail at all?

I tried to get a picture here. There is the normal cerith and then my fuzzy cerith next to it. You can't really tell from the picture but the fuzz is made up of individual little polyps.

That is really quite strange. Do you have these things anywhere else in the tank?

I haven't seen any but they are so tiny that it is quite possible that I just miss them.

I found a picture and now I think it might be a hydroid. Will they hurt the snail and if so how do I get rid of them?
