cementing peices of Acrylic to sump for bubble trap do I have to use Weld on?


I just don't know if I can find this locally and Im only using it for the bubble trap, do I really need to use Weld on or can i use silicone or something like that?

Well, if its acrylic to acrylic, i would recommend weldon (or a similar solvent). You dont mention if the sump is glass. If so, you can get away with using silicon (i think you'd actually have to, as weldon doesnt bond to glass), though i've never done it myself. You can get weldon online, though you have to pay a little extra to ship sometimes (hazardous material). I think weldon 16 would be ok if you arent interested in the aesthetics of the seal (otherwise 4 is a good choice, but a little more overhead in applying).

If they sell large quantities acrylic, I'd be surprised if they didnt have weld-on (or again, some other brand of solvent).
