catalina goby questions and mysterious death

i have been reading about catalina gobies and how they like colder water. my temps lately have been about 78 at night to 81 when the lights are on. well i had 2 of them in atank with a chromis maron clown starfish and 2 pepermint shrimp. the last few days i could not find one of the shrimo and one of the gobies. yesterday when i changed my water i fouund both of them stuck together like as if they were fighting or something. the shrimp was whole but the goby was kinda eaten up. im not sure waht to make of this. the other fish are fine and the other goby and shrimp are very happy. i love the gobies and the onle elft seems happy he eats well and swims well. any idea on what happend. my water conditions according to the lfs are fine. oh well . i am a little worrieds about picking up my sailfin tang now maybe i ahve some kind of problem.

uhhh, I thought people had stressed this enough, as a SoCAl native (near catalina, and we have the gobbies around here), they die in reef tanks, they should be kept at California Water temps, 55-70 (at the most)........

I dont think tank raising a fish changes its genetic pre-disposition, as far as what climate it should be adapted to, thats like saying polar bears can survive in the amazon if they have never been to alaska

thanks for the advice!!!as soon as i put the sailfin in the tank it instanly went to the same place that the maron clown hangs out at. was a little woried but i have been watching them and they are doing fine together. hopefully the sailfin wont grow to be a pest! My friend has one about the same size as yours and he does good very peacefull. i just love them and the one i got is nicely colored. what do you feed them?? do they like specific thing beside algae? currently my fishes eat frozen formula 2, brine shrimp plus flakes and frozen brine i mix it up during the week. thanks for the advice this is my first tank and im still learning. was a little freaked out when i found the goby and the shrimp dead and together.

Spirulina flakes and the formula 2 you metioned are good fillers but for nutrition they will require something more, brine shimp as you hinted at aren't that nutritious, alot of people dont use them switch to krill, mysis, mysid, blood worms, squid, they'll eat any of that stuff
