Question

Carpet cleanup...

What is the best way to cleanup after a tank spills onto the carpeting? The carpet is all dry, but it has a crusty feel to it.

Yup, a Rug Doctor, or any kind of shampooer will help (am i exposing my "expertise" by offering this info so easily? LOL)
Don't really have to use cleaning solution, unless maybe the first time,,then use the RD to wet the carpet(fairly hot water,no guarantee on color fade etc, like the shampooer makers say)and remove/vaccuum it out,,,do a few times, with the last time over the area with just the vaccum part, no added water. allow to dry, hopefully with a decent fan blowing over the carpet. You want to dry the carpet as fast as you can, so no mold/smell etc can start. When dry, check the area, and if needed, repeat the process,,
A lil hint here from Mr.Idea here, add a lil liquid fabric softener in your final water solution, it'll help soften up the carpet ,,,,,,

Recapping:
wet the carpet well, w/hot water from a shampooer, repeat a few times, use just the vaccum part of the RD/shampooer at the last, no using water.(you want to end with the carpet as dry as you can get it)
allow to dry, repeat as needed./use a fan to blow across the carpet to dry same faster.
a lil bit of fab softener in the final "rinse/vac" will help soften up the carpet.

Hope this helps, good luck!
