Captive Bred Stichodactyla sp.

I was just informed that a couple of companies are collecting the sperm and eggs from Stichodactyla anemones and raising them. These companies are working out of Palau and, according to Charles Delbeek, are available through a wholesale outfit that advertise in FAMA. The anemones arrive around the size of a quarter. Charles has four (maybe three) that have grown to around 8" in the past two years. I forgot to ask if they were at home or at the Waikiki Aquarium but probably the latter as he has them in direct sunlight.

This was news to me and I thought I'd share it, don't laugh at me if this is old news.

No problem Alice. I think, not sure, but think that they are available to everyone. That was the impression I was left with anyway.

At least something of note was learned through the anemone discussion on reefcentral, albeit a different route.

Thanks for sharing that Troy; I find that very good news indeed. They get up to all kinds of stuff over there in Waikiki

Thanks for the FYI, Troy!
At TRT we generally only laugh at ourselves
Any idea where we can get more info?

Alice, I got curious and looked for the thread you and Troy hinted at. It was a rather extended one, so naturally, I could not help but prolong its agony.

horgy porgy, pudgy and dark...
