Capnella ain't doing so hot....
I'll refer to this thread which has the pic of when the entire thing appeared healthy and one half decided to go bright green:
http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/sh...light=capnella
i had thought that the bright green look was a good thing, now i'm not so sure. The portion in that pic where the coral is still brownish, it separated and grew even bigger and is still amazing to look at. (so i then had 3 pieces, 2 very green and the new brown one)Its polyps are a nice pink/brown and the stem is full and healthy looking. But the parts that turned bright green have gone downhill. I separated the two from the third because the brown section had attached to another rock and the greenish ones seemed to be getting in the way- the current would blow them together and none would stay open....
But the green portions that separated now look like this (not very good pic)
it is still in two sections, but one completely dropped off and is lying on the bottom... the tips of its polyps are still brown and seem as tho they are trying to open...

here, you may see where it separated from the other- also not looking too healthy....
my parameters have been good (so 1.024, temp 79°, no ammo, trates or trites- i mean good enough for the other to look so wonderful.
Is there any saving these two pieces? the one that dropped off looks powdery at its point of release. would it do to try dissecting that portion away and reset it on a plug with epoxy, superglue or suture?

i'm glad the one piece is doing so well...i just don't understand why these two original pieces are deteriorating like that. seems kinda strange. i would think since they are in the same exact tank, within 15" inches of eachother, if there was something in there that is bad, all of it would be dying....

yeh, me too, Heather. My experience is that they can can get PO'd, and then come back. So what's the current status?
