That does look nasty; I"m sorry Amy I don't think it's brown jelly though, bround jelly really does look like someone put brown jelly all over the coral.
Something in the tank is a thought, the fish death causing an ammonia spike is another thought. Do you have any more sand laying around? Since that stuff you use is so cheap why not do your water change and change out the sand bed too? If something did get in the tank it would help get it out; plus moving rock around and disturbing a sand bed can lead to ammonia spikes so it would rule that possibility out too.

Amazing none of us threw that in the ring before now. Probably one of the best ideas yet.

water change is done.
fresh carbon and purigin is in
no sand laying around so I didn't do that, however it is a good idea.
coral looks - well - aweful
I am finishing up water changes on the other 2 tanks as well
as a side note - seahorses have gas bubble again as well so I just threw up a QT again - it got to hot
man this being sick thing is SO not good for the tanks!
If the pony's don't make it I may have to seriously consider going down to the one big tank!

Bummer on the bad patch Amy, I am included to think its external toxin, given the fish death and the coral heading south at the same time Did you mention a temp spike in earlier post? that could cause bad juju in a small tank

thanks guys...
Connors tank looks to have evened out - the candy canes are in one body of water and the brain coral in another
they are "mostly dead" but we are continuing water changes in their buckets as well as daily iodine dips to see if we can help turn them around.
I am glad the rest of the tank looks to be ok... we shall watch and see.
