Derassa Gigas and Squmosa are all lower light clams,.. Exactally how much light do you have over what size tank?

There is a FAQ I wrote about clams stuck at the top of the Clam Fourm,.. it may answer some of your questions about verious clams.

Whiskey

Remember too, the watts/gallon is only a guide. The true issue is how many watts and how deep your tank is. You can have a 20L and a 29, with the same lights, and get better penetration on the 20L since the water is shallower.
That should be more than enough for a clam.

its not about the watts per gallon.

metal halides = penetrate very well
T5 = penetrate very well ( from what i read )
power compacts = do not penetrate good.
