I had a MR-2 with a GenX PCX 55 on my 125 SPS tank and it proved to be too much,.. I could have dialed it back, but I ended up putting it in my closet (where it still is lol) and going with a smaller NW skimmer just for power reasons.
If you do go with a MR series skimmer I think the MR-2 would be more than plenty with that pump, I still say it's the best performing skimmer I've ever used.
The G4 is made my ASM.

Thanks. I think I will go with the mr4. It is going to be a predator fowlr with lots of feeding but no coral. I just want to make sure I have a good skimmer to clean the poo these guys will make. How do you guys feel about the sump. How big should I go? As big is I can get under the tank?! I am thinking a 55 gallon. A 75 may not give me enough room to work under there.

anyone have the stand from oceanic/aga? Thinking of building a custom stand. The stand is wood frame and then like a laminate type plastic or something. Is it durable? Or better to do a custome stand? I guess they can't be too bad or people wouldn't be still buying them. Both of my aga tanks have wood frames completely, do they switch to a different material because of the wood shape?

the bow stands are usually plastic types because its hard to get a good looking stand built out of wood with a bow in it. if you know someone to build it, and build it strong, it should be fine.

The hubby is quite a good handyman. I have plenty of time to decide what to do about the stand cause I am taking my time on it. Just wondering how good the stands are.

FWIW Oceanics guarentee normally requires that you use one of Their stands, going custom usually voids the warrenty. Since its a "used tank" that may not be an issue, but it gives you some insight into the strength of their stands

your probably not getting a warranty anyway, especially if your pulling the trim and putting your own on, if you want to go with a custom hubby stand, i say go for it, its just tricky to get wood to bow and fit the tank just right,

Guess we'll see when we get the stand in the house. I already have him reinforcing the subfloor so the thing doesn't fall thru, don't want to push my luck. I am just ready to get it going. Lot's to do and so little time. Actually I got nothing but time but I want to get all the parts and not skimp on them. I see this thing sitting empty for a while.
