Can having to many crabs reduce the amount of corraline in your tank??

Hi all,

I was just wondering, i seem to have hundreds of hitchiker crabs in my tank. Ive noticed that im not getting the explosive growth of corraline i used to get. Are crabs detrimental to corraline algae and if they are how can i catch them if they are not why arent i getting as much anymore? Could it be as a result of lower calcium levels? Any input would be appreciated.

thanks
Adam

I think they can help, they scratch and cause it to free float and go other places.Lighting has something to do with it.How old are your bulbs and do you have a lot of lights(watts)

i honestly have no idea they are all hitchhikers. I have metal halides i think 150w i dunno, which r about 4.5 months old or so. Forgive me for i have sinned... i dont have a calcium or magnesium test kit. sorry i cant be more informative. Does the growth slow down after a while or so, cose i have noticed i have way more corraline than other peeps' tanks.
