Camera advice
My wife lost our little Canon point and shoot on vacation so now I have no way to take pics of my kids or tanks. I would really like a Digital SLR but I don't think I have anyway to convince my wife to let me spend the $$$. I still have my Nikon SLR but film is too pricey.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a cost effective digital point and shoot camera that can take nice pics of tanks?

My wife picked up a Exilim 7.2mp (~$150) not long ago mostly because of it's small size. It's biggest flaw is that it gets "noisy" like most all of the lower end cameras in low light. Otherwise it has some decent features and is the first camera with wife can actually use to get a decent photo!
Here are a few shots I took using the macro setting:
I should mention that these photos have been edited in terms of cropping, resizing, etc. They are not the raw images right off the camera, but it does show what the camera does with a little tweaking. For the price we are both quite happy with it.

Look at the Olympus 1030SW or 850SW? I think those are the model numbers. It's a waterproof camera you can stick in the tank, but that's just one of it's many features.

The underwater macro setting is quite impressive. I did crop them down, and hit auto contrast, but no color shifting/etc. By no means am I a skilled photographer, and I think the pictures turned out amazing thanks to the anti-shake/macro/etc. And you just slam it in the water! Man, is that a strange feeling the first time you do it!

Ok here is a pic on low res settings. This is a raw image with no PS. So far I am very happy with it. I am still waiting for my Olympus propietary flash card so I can take more pics, the built in memory cannpt hold many so I have the res very low at the moment, but hey at least it has a built in memory card.
