Question

**calling All Tank Stand Expert Help**

oK RIGHT NOW I HAVE A UNIQUARIUM FROM CLEAR FOR LIFE ITS A 60G THE DIMENSIONS ARE 48L X 15W X 18H THE STAND IS THE SAME DIMENSION. THE REASON I WANT TO UPGRADE IS BECAUSE SINCE THIS IS A UNIQUARIUM YOU LOOSE ABOUT 4.5 INCHES DUE TO THE SUMP ON THE BACK SIDE. I WANT TO UPGRADE TO A 90G BUT THE DIMENSIONS OF THAT ARE 48L X 18W X 24H SO THE WIGHT IS 3 MORE INCHES. THERE ARE A COUPLE THINGS I AM WONDERING WOULD IT HOLD EXTRA 30G OF WATER WITH OUT A PROBLEM ON THAT STAND???? WHAT I WAS THINKING WAS MAYBE I CAN BUY SOME WOOD AND CUT IT THE SAME SIZE AS THE NEW TANK AND PLACE IT IN THE STAND WITH THE 3 INCHES STICKING OUT FROM THE BACK. WOULD THAT BE OK I REALLY DONT WANT TO FOR OUT MORE MONEY FOR A NEW STAND FOR JUST 3 INCHES.

MY ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO GET THE NEW TANK AND A WET DRY AND A MAG PUMP. I WILL MOVE ALL THIS ROCK TO THE NEW TANK AND GET NEW LIVE SAND OF I AM REALLY TEMPTED TO GO BB. I ALREADY HAVE GOOD PC LIGHTS AND SKIMMER.
IN THE NEXT WEEK I AM GOING TO HAVE MORE QUESTIONS LIKE WHAT THE BEST COLOR AND WERE IS THE BEST PLACES TO PUT RETURNS LINES BUT FOR NOW I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF I CAN USE THE SAME STAND FOR THE NEW TANK. PLEASE HELP GUYS HERE A DANCING BANANA FOR EVERYONES HELP THANKS

Without seeing the stand its really hard to say. However, I will say that if you add the platform like you say, as well as a few 2x4's cut really close to the right height and then shim and screw them in place it will be ano brainer that it will be strong enough. I would put one of the 2/4's under where the new platform sticks out. 2x2's would probably suffice as well but i like to overbuild things......

Figure you are adding about 300 lbs above the roiginal as well as changing the center of gravity a touch.........
