Calling all tank movers! Need help with new tank

Okay Short and Sweet, heres the project.

I need to move my 65 from where it's standing to the garbage dumpster and replace it with my new 90gl.

As the new tank will be in the old tanks spot, I am looking for suggestions on how to move the LR, Fish, Inverts into a temp setup while I drill the floor for the plumbing etc.

Assumptions:

Have large rubbermaid container already.

Able to mount lights over temp set up.

My concern is adding everything back to the new setup when it has all new water or at least 50 gallons of new water. Whereas my tank is 2 years old already. Will I run into cycling problems?

Whats the best way to do this? Get a coarl BBsitter (27 corals)?

HELP PLEASE?

I don't neccessarily think you have to worry about all new water. Just make sure the parameters are as close as possible. If you plan to do the move all within a few days I wouldn't worry about mounting lights over the temporary storage container. Make sure you have good water flow.

I agree with Rick, it really depends on how long of the switch it will be. If you are just moving everything into the 90 and just have to move the 90 into place and drill a couple of holes in the floor, then you should not have a problem. If that was the case, move everything alive into a few containers, move tanks around, have most of the replacement/ new water ready and go. If you nee dmore time then put the rock, corals and fish into the big container, use the old tank to make new salt water (after you move it) and do the flop. I would not worry about too much of a cycle if the rock is the same, most of the water is reused and you are just changing glass.

I agree with the above. Make sure that you make plenty of new water a few days ahead of time so that it mixes properly. Lights are not an issue if you do the swap in 2-3 days. Reuse most of the old water in the new tank. FYI, you should put some old water in a 5 gal. bucket and dunk and swish the live rock as you place it into the new tank. This will knock off a lot of old detritus trapped in the rock's crevises.
