Question

Calcium Confusion

I have been reading old posts about calcium and kalkwasser.....and boy am I confused.
Can anyone direct me to a good post or book that will help me figure out;
1. the best way to raise and stabilize calcium in a 100 gal FO/LR/LS tank. (apparently kalkwasser doesn't do both??)
2. NO money for a dripper- so I am trying to figure out the best way to add kalk. I already screwed this up and added some of it without letting the stuff settle. I followed the directions- but it mentioned nothing about that. Anyhow- I read a post that said "you don't want that stuff in your tank". What stuff, specifically? What could happen? How slow is slow, when adding it by hand?

I have conscientious marine aquarist- and that book doesn't really help in this problem.
thanks yall.

BTW my tank is doing much much better after my crash! My nitrites and nitrates are better than ever!

I will be posting a reply to this topic in ShirleyM's thread at:http://www.thereeftank.com/forum/sho...1548#post61548 , and as it is a little on the complex side, I will be explaining it in detail there.

Hope this helps, I will specifically respond to your question if you will post it there.
