Bulk Head Tool ?

Have schedule 80 1.5 bulkheads on bottom of 150g tank. Access from underneath tank no so good.

Like an oil filter removal tool, Is there a similar "strap" type tool small enough to grab the appx. 3-4 inch in diameter bulkhead from in the tank and tighten ? Pipe wrench just isn't gonna get it ...

You can use a strap wrench,.. craftsmen makes some with rubber straps, but if you can't get a pipe wrench in there that won't work either.

I never use tools to tighten my bulkheads though,.. Hand tight is all I ever do.

Most of the bulkheads I have ever seen all recommend hand-tightening only. If you get it too tight, the gasket starts deforming and can cause leaks. You may want to just put a thin film of silicone on the gasket, and then have a friend hold one end of the bulkhead under the tank while you tighten the part inside the tank.

I have a strap wrench(Snap-on) that is a woven material that goes from 1/2" up to 8".But I bet any auto store like NAPA has one.I used it alot on Diesel gas and oil filters.

I use a large channel lock on my 1.5s. I only go about 1/4 of a turn or less. As said, you do not want to overtighten just like an oil filter gasket. The locks seem to do perfectly for the job.

No silicone and only hand tight. I used a set of channel locks once, broke the bulkhead.

Yeah, how crazy are you all getting with these channel locks? With a 1.5" bulk, your glass is 1/2" thick at least normally...shoot, that can hold a person standing on it. Remind me not to get in a fight with you. 8p The obvious understatement to my post is that you *carefully* tighten the bulk...same message as if you use the cemented plumbing by turning slightly.
