building my sump

I just got some custom cut plexiglass for my sump, but I am now realizing that the 10 gallon that I got is too small.

does anyone know any tank comes in 10 inches deep (front to back) but less than 36 inches long??? Because the plexiglass sheets are made for a 10" deep tank.

Is there any chance I can make a good refugium sump out of the 10 gallon I already have? I only have a 40 gallon tank. If there is a possibility, what kind of return pump should I use?

Does anyone know anyone who has a 10 gallon refugium or pump?
I am so low on money now!

You can set up the fug as a gravuty feed to the tank. You would have to find a way to set the 10 so its water level is a little higher than that of the 40. Have it drilled so that all th overflow drains through PVC to the 40. You could feed the fug with a small pump or large power head from the sump. Someone posted a pic of this type set up a week or so ago tomorrow Ill try to find it for you. Its an easy way to do it and light on the wallet!

you could use a rubbermade container, thats what I am doing on my 55...i got the ~30g container and when the system is on it holds around 17 gal. cheap and easy. course, if you want the sump for more than holding equipment and doing water changes it might not get the job done b/c i would think it would be tough to attach partitions, etc. then again, maybe you could get some of those little plastic storage boxes to just set inside it...could always set the ten gallon up as a refugium attached to the rubbermaid

Is your plexi already cut? Or, is it in 10" strips? because my 70g sump has 10"+/- tall baffle. Good luck.

Actually guys, its too late....my 10 gallon sump/refuge has come to life....I plan to just run an aquaclear 4000 (280-400 gph) back to my 40 gallon. Does this sound good?
