building a glass sump-how to add baffles

Looking for some pointers on building my sump. Working w. a 55gall tempered glass tank.

I've got a plan, I'm just not sure how to install the baffles correctly.

Would I use cut glass and silicone? Silicone application tips (particularly where baffles are fairly close together)

Pointers would be great here, of any sort.

Thanks.

EBL

Hey EBL,

I added a baffle to my Oceanic Reef Ready Model 2 sump, I went to my local glass cutter, and orderd a piece (measure 4 times!!! ). Then I just used 100% silicone to seal it in place. I tried to put a bead of silicone on the glass peice first and sticking it in place, but that failed and I had to clean it all up.

What did work was to set the glass in place and have my wife hold it there (a clamp would have been better ) then I used the silicone applicator tip to spread a thick bead on the "inside" and "outside" of the glass piece. This worked 1000 times better than trying to put the silicone on the glass peice first like a glue, instead use it like you would caulk.

Hope this helps

Man... thanks, you're the best! I thought that was how I'd do it but I needed to hear it right out first.
My husband thinks I'm nuts and that it would never work...
Now I can say, "TRT says this!!" I LOVE it!!

Sure appreciate it.... Thank you!

whoa now, I don't speak for all of TRT these posts are just my opinions and experiances - disclamer

LOL

ok with the legalities out of the way ....

Anyway, just mention to your hubby, that I messed up and had to use (man now I can't remember what it's called, to clean up the wet silicone), anyway, it was a mess when I tried to use the silicone like glue, when I used it like caulk it worked great.
