Question

bubbles

I have these scummy looking bubbles starting to grow all over my tank. They range in size from verry small to up to a knickle in size. They are growing all over my live rock, glass and snails. Any idea what this is and how to get rid of it.

alot of things. It could be bubble algae, or it could be bubbles of air that are comming in from a powerhead, filter, or skimmer. Or it could be from the substrate, gas pockets getting stuck on their way up to the surface. If it is bubble algae, (Green oblong bubbles) you can either get some mithrax crabs, as they like to munch on it, or you can pull the rock out that has it on there and peel it off, and then rinse it off really well before you put it back in the tank. If it is oxygen bubbles, your filtration just needs some fine tuning, and if it is the exchange of gasses getting trapped you probably are not vac-ing your tank well enough.

I would add a pic to a reply but i cant figure out how to do that yet. I think it may be oxygen bubbles. I can tell that its not bubble algae. What kind of fine tuning to filtering are u refering to. (better protein skimmer?) thanx for the help

To add a pic click the little icon above where you post a message, it's the one with the mountain and sun. Pics need to be around 600x400 in size. good luck.

sounds like the slime algae is just creating pockets of gas. So the real problem is the slime algae.
