Bubble Tip Anenome Problem

Hi All,
The tenticles on one of my anenomes have shrivelled up. Its still feeding and hasnt closed up at all ,its just the tenticles. They do swell up but only half way and the rest of the tenticle is like cotton. My tank is 4ftx2ftx2ft and all water tests etc are fine. Ive got another anenome but hes fine, fish are fine etc. Any advice?????
My apologies if Ive posted this in the wrong section. (First post)

Welcome to TRT Spils!

how old is the tank it self?
what lighting do you have it under?
can you re test the parameters and post the values, is it possible that the other anemone may have touch him?
can you post a picture of him?
sometimes they will just do things like that and be fine a few days later.

Thanks for the welcome. Ive had the tank running for 9 months, parameters are as follows:
ph - 8.1
nitrite - 0
ammonia - 0
salinity - 1.020
nitrate - 20ppm

running 3 40watt coral grow fluro's

The anenomes touch frequently but they have in the past also. (each time i move them they seem to move right next to eachother) I have a brittle starfish that likes to try and take the food from it on occasions. Could this be the problem? Its been like that for around 6 days now.

Due to his position in the tank its hard to get a good shot but will try to see what i can do.

Ok the anenome in question is the one at the top of the pictures. Usually he is 3 times the size of the anenome also pictured.

The problem is your lights, your anemones are bleached. These critters usually need lots of light to thrive in closed systems and 3x40w flourescent is not ideal for them.

Yes the other looks better but is bleached too, they are alive because you feed them but it's a matter of time. I see that they are in the top of the tank? I suggest that if you can upgrade your lighting do it, other thing you can do is place them on a friends tank with metal halide lightning preferably or just sell them. I know this is kinda dissapointing but those are not thriving with that lightning. sorry man.

Ive just bought a 90 litre tank. Would i be better putting them in that? That will be running 1 40 watt fluro though but wont be as deep.

Theyre on the bottom of the tank

Nitrates are also a little high for an anemone's taste.

Do you have any clue why they're that high?

Ditto on the lights too.

here's a write up I did about my Sabae anemone, but it's appropriate for all anemenoe's in general:

http://mysite.verizon.net/s0da/sabae.html

It definitely needs more lighting, and you'd need to get those nitrates down to 5ppm or less.

Welcome, btw...sorry it had to be on bad news like this. But we're still always glad to have new reefers!!

No where near enough lighting. In a tank that size, for an anemone, you'd need to get some MH (metal halide) lighting...somewhere around 150 watts. (my guess...others?)

Turn your pumps off and place them where you want them and they will re-attach on their own within 5-10 mins..that is if they are not too unhappy and just want to float around.

Good luck!
