bubble coral problem

Within the past 2 months or so my bubble coral has not accepted food, it does not even send out its sweeper tentacles like it used to, before this i fed it silversides or squid once or twice a week. The change seemed to coincide with the introduction of my 250mh. At first I thought it was not eating because it the light was enough for it, as its coloration became much darker, However the polyp has started to recede very slowly within the past 2 weeks. All water params are very good, and other corals are doing very well. I have tried placing it in differet areas of the tank, and this does not seem to affect the problem much if any. Any suggestions on what the problem could be/possible solutions?

Mike,
Here's a good article about bubble corals.... http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish/reference/s2.asp
towards the end it especially talks about lighting and current requirements possibly causing it to deflate.

HTH.

have you changed the current in your tank in any way (new powerheads, moved powerheads, etc)? i agree it sounds that your problem may have started from the lighting upgrade, but if it's been a while, i can't see that that is still causing the problem. you should try to cut the photoperiod anytime you introduce stronger, more intense lighting and work up to the photoperiod you had before.
