Question

Bubble coral Help

Hi I just recently purchased a bubble coral and a frogspawn coral from petco online and they came in today. I researched them before they came in and positioned the frogspawn in the mid to high level of the tank with moderate flow and left the bubble on the low right side with moderate light and low flow. I have a 29 gallon reef tank with 130 watt power compact and a 65 watt compact. The frogspawn opened up instantly and looks to be doing great however the bubble has been a little shy. It looked like mouths with polyps around them were starting to open up but im not sure.

Any Advice?

Best advice is to leave it be for a couple days to a week and see what it does

Also you need to acclimate the corals to the light, so make sure that you start at about 2-3 hours a day and slowly increase the light over 2-4 weeks. After you get more corals, you just start them off at the bottom and slowly raise them up over 2-4 weeks instead of adjusting the lighting

well these corals were added to an existing tank that already contained a green brain coral, button polyps, a rose anemone, large tentacle anemone, a seabe anemone, and now the frogspawn and bubble. I put them in the tank without light (because i was messing around with the light bracing for about and hour) and then when i put the light on the fogspawn opened immediatly

Well lower the FS and spend the next month raising it to where you want it

You can stress a coral out and/or burn it and have it start blowing heads on you... Maybe not as bad with PC lighting, but it is still best for the coral...

Even if the polyps fully extended and seem to be doing fine i should still lower them?

PS
Thanks for the advice too

Yes... Just because they are open today doesn't mean they are not getting burned. I would hate to have you lose a coral for something so simple

Plus you have to keep in mind that things that happen today in your tank can affect the coral 3 months from now. Usually LPS are more forgiving, but this is a good rule for when SPS enter the picture.

Coral banded shrimp problem

alright when i get home from work ill lower them and then gradually move them up. another question is about a coral banded shrimp. I have had him in the tank since the beginning with two peppermints and recently purchased a cleaner shrimp. This morning i saw the cleaners heas bitten off and the coral munching away and carrying his prize all over the tank. could this homicide be because of not enough feeding or just a territorial problem

Damsel trouble

i thought so. i got the cleaner to help with an outbreak of ich i have been going through for about a month now and he lasted two days. Also i hate to say it but i have a dreaded blue damsel in my main display. He bullied my royal Grammer so much the poor little fish didnt have hardly ne fins left and broke out bad with spots. I moved him to my QT where my tangs reside but he was dead the next morning. I want to get another Grammer eventrually but dont wanna risk another killing. Ne advice on catching the little demon?
