Brown/Cyano Algae??

I know this is a process of the Break in cycle in my tank. I have some Tonga LR that is now turning hairy pretty bad with the brown algae. I was wondering if it is recommended to pull the LR out and Clean it off?? I can still do this since I do not have an aqua scape going yet. It is only on the tonga LR though.

RODI
1.025-1.026
78-80
210 Gallons/75 gallon sump
Deltec
Water running in it for about 4 weeks now and Tonga in for 2 @ 30 LBS and 150LBS of Fiji Premium in for a week now. No livestock yet.

Lights on for 4 hours HQI anlong with t5. Short cycles.

Thanks for the input and I will try to get some pics up as My camera is on the fritz right now.

Thanks
Mike

Typically it takes 1 to 2 months for the tank to cycle......just have patience and you will be rewarded....it goes away on its own.

its normal for brown algae to be poping up early on...I would give it some time..what are your nitrates, phosphates etc?

sounds like you are in the ugly stage of the cycle. cleaning off the algae is not a bad thing, but it will not help as much as you hope.

leave it alone... once it gets to it's "fuzzy" stage blow it off with a powerhead, and use a sock to catch the debris in the sump.. it helps alot... but eventually it will go away on it's own (and a little help from the CUC)

Sounds good guys. That was kinda what I thought. I will aqua scape this weekend and I am sure that I will stir it up some then.
