Finally, someone to relate my story to!
When Jeremy was born he was severly jaundiced, and had to stay a couple extra days in the ped ward wearing Buck-Rogers glasses and living in an incubator.
The lights they used were real blue, so I asked the nurse what wattage they were, she said 15, and they were a special light that simulated the blue rays of the sun. I told her we could take him home, put him in his crib and put the 03 Actinics over him!
She didn't laugh.

LMAO! wrasseman..funny story. The 03's would probably work just as good. Too funny. Unfortunately the stuff I see is far worse than jaundice.
Johnny-
To give you a generic answer (so as not to infringe on confidentiality)... most of our babies are very, very critical and many do not go home. You can always say prayers for babies on my unit. I work in a pediatric icu. I'm the babe at the desk who answers the phones, runs the labs, orders the x-rays, and is generally running the show. Oh, the docs and nurses help out a little bit, too . It's a very tough job, but I like it. Put it this way, I don't have to watch shows like ER or Trauma anymore, because I live them at work.
