Brittle Star Preditors?

Hey gang!

I did a search and only came up with problem crab. I have had several Britttles and 3 Serpents in our 135 for 18 months. Yesterday, we came home and one of the Brittles had a hole in the middle of his crown. This morning, there are leg pieces all over the place. This afternoon, a smaller guy has a hole in his crown too.

I have never seen a bad crab in there. That tank has Percs, a Yellow Tang, Scooter and a Velvet Damsel. I have never seen anything pay any attention to the stars Oh, there was a Scarlet Hermit pulled out of his shell too. Now I have seen that before, but they were eaten. THis one was just squirming around and died.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Chris

Sounds like a crab or mantis/pistol shrimp to me.

Like Steve Nichols has said, it sure sounds like a mantis shrimp! Johnny
