Bristle Worms--Yay or Nay?
Do you trap bristle worms or just let them stay in there? I know we have at least one really big one--I've seen at least 4 inches of it poking out.

If you saw a 4 inch bristle worm in your tank then unless you just got a new piece of live rock, you definately have more than just that one, but they are good to have will mix your substrate and eat any crap in your tank.

I always leave them alone I think they are harmless detrivores, though they will eat something that's already dead or dying.

My last setup I had 60 some bristle worms in there I would just catch some every once and a while to keep the population down.

Bristleworms are good for your tank - but not for your fingers. They are great detritivores and keep leftovers and poop under control. If something perishes, they'll clean that up too.
They don't bother healthy living things - if it's being eaten, it was dead or dying to start with.
If you have a ridiculous population of them, you're feeding too much. Cut back and the population will subside on its own - they are a "supply and demand" detritivore - too much waste, they'll multiply to eat it.
If you're really bothered by them, orchid dottybacks and some wrasses will eat them.
Love thy worms.

I was told they can eat your corals? Is that not true?

There is a type of worm that can eat corals - but regular old bristle worms won't harm a healthy coral. If it dies, they'll eat it - but otherwise there's no problem.
I have lots of bristleworms in my sell system - no problems.

I saw a few of thm in my sump and freaked out. I posted a thread and fly showed me this pick of his "pet bristle that really scared the CR*P out of me but then he reassured me they were fine. That was several months ago and they have not bothered a thing. I only see them in my sump but I'm sure they are in the main tank as well

Okay, so last night, my bf was feeding a piece of shrimp to our anenome, and just as the anenome was starting to close around the shrimp, a huge bristle worm came out and grabbed the piece of shrimp right out of the anenome!!!!
Is this really bad? Could the worm have harmed the anenome? After the worm grabbed the shrimp, the anenome close up tight.
