Bristle Worm Massacre
Hi everyone!
I had a small puffer in my 150 "Polly" She was a great fish and I loved watching her. After a cpl of weeks I noticed my brain wasn't opening and one of the branches on my frogspawn was also staying closed. I never suspected my little Polly until I saw her nipping on the brain and frogspawn. I put her in the sump and three days later my corals are fully opened again.
Polly is in the sump 30 gallon with some live rock. I figured she would eat most if not all the pods but I never thought she would kill all my Bristle worms. I looked in the sump yesterday and I could see all these little bits and pieces of bristle worms scattered all over the sump and there was Polly so fat she could hardly move. I'm keeping her in the sump until her new Daddy can come down from Albany and pick her up. Her new Daddy has renamed her Hanna Hannibal .

Oh Patrick...I am sorry...you gave it a try though.
I guess this goes to show the rest of us who were wondering if we could have a puffer that it is at our own risk. That stinks...
So long Polly

Bummer Patrick. Puffers are a lot of fun and full of personality. Too bad it didn't work out. BTW, try to siphon out all the bristle worm bits before they decompose and pollute the tank.

Thanks frank and Hoang
When I checked this am all the bristle worm remains were gone and yes Hanna is even fatter.
If my sump was glass I would just keep her in there. She is so funny and I love watching her but I don't think its fare to keep her in a plastic sump.
My friend has a 55 gallon with just a lawnmower blenny in there. So I'm sure she will have a happier life with him.
I'm hoping I have a few bristle worms that survive I also enjoyed watching them.

I'm sure your bristle worms will re-populate,.. it will just take a little time.
Sorry to hear about Polly, its good that she was easy to get out though!

How do I train my fish that way???? My Sailfin is the only fish that will do that.

Yeah I feel really bad but like I said it wasn't Hanna's fault it was mine. She really is a hog I put my hand in the sump a few min ago to check the heater and I swear she was ready to take a bite of my finger.

Wow, Patrick. What a story about your puffer. Great visual about being so full that she can't move.

I had a Huma Huma Trigger once. I bought a REALLY little one at the LFS. After it was in my tank a while I noticed it had chomped on every bristle it could get. Only the very small survived. Great!!! I think you need some??? Anyway, I really liked the trigger but when it got older it got triggerie and it had to go to a friend that has tanks for that type. Pretty fish.
