Bringing it back to Life

Well finally after about 3 monthes of being financialy impared I can now start reconstructing my reef tank.
My 2 occelaris, Royal Gramma, and Rock Blenny are all perfecty healthy but I need to start adding corals and more fish.
I have been watching the nitrate and such levels closely.
My main concern now that I have the time and a little money to put into the tank is...
1. How to get rid of the massive infestation of Aiptasias. I figure with 80lbs of rock I have close to 4 Aiptasias for every Lb. that I can see. I have been squirtting the living daylights out of them as they come up with "stop aiptasia." I takes care of a few but some of them survive and others die but more pop up in other spots. I have tried the Peppermint Shrimp but for some unknown reason they do not last more than 3 days in my tank.
I was thinking about getting some kaulk I think its called and trying that but my fear is that im going to have to dismantle my tank and rotate all the rocks hitting each individual aiptasia which could take forever.

2. Not a queastion but more an idea, I have a couple of rocks that have a serious hair algea problem, this hasnt spread to any other rocks so im figuring a couple of turbos and a tuxedo urchin should do the trick.
Wish me luck everyone, I will keep updates and pictures coming as it gets closer to "coral ready."

I don't know the size of your tank, but a healthy coppperband butterfly will take care of your aptaisia. I think if the hair algae is only on a few rocks, I'd remove them and keep them in some saltwater in the dark for a couple of weeks.
just my 2 cents

Hello

The "stop aiptasia" stuff is junk. I have tried just about everything on the market. I suggest you try Joe's Juice, one shot and they are dead! I they are on the glass or substrate you can also remove them with twezers...HTH....Anthony

Could try Joe's Juice, or Kalk paste. Very effective but time consuming for a massive infestation.

Could try dipping the rock in overly salty water for a short time. Die off should be minimal within the rock.

Could try slowly diluting the tank with fresh water if you don't have corals yet. The fish will be fine. Your rock will experience die off.

Could try a freshwater dip of all your rock, but this most likely will kill other stuffs in the rock as well.

Could try the PH shock treatment. I'd advise doing this without other things you wish to keep in the tank.

Could re-cure the rock. Again, time consuming and will experience die off.

Or lastly, ebay the rock and buy some new stuff.

inject the beasties with nearly boiling FW. Works for me. Time consuming but they don't come back. I'll pick them off in and hour and put kalk paste on the spot where the sucker was. This is all done out of the tank.
