My favorites books for new SW aquarists are:

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist, by Robert Fenner

Natural Reef Aquariums, by John Tullock (First purchase).

The Reef Aquarium, Vol. 1 & 2 ($$), by Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung

Aquarium Corals: Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History by Eric Borneman.

All of these have great information. I recommend any/all of them.

I usually buy through Amazon.com. I don't know about used book sites, but occasionally you can find them on eBay. Just don't go getting an old version. You really want the latest info possible.

HTH,

Ed

Since most of us keep fish, Scott Michaels' books Marine Fishes-A Pocket Expert Guide and Reef Fishes are really good to have. I also really like The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium by Svein A. Fossa and Alf Jacob Nilsen.

Alice your link, as far as I could tell from a quick browse, was all freshwater.

Troy; you're right, not the best link. There is some obscure saltwater info in there, which is why I was searching that one for the elusive required reading for MACO.

Alibris, however is where I found my copies of Delbeek and Sprung TRA 1&2 for $85 for both, including shipping. They were used but look like they'd hardly been opened. They had used copies of the MACO text there, too. $25 for EIS Two in the same like new-condition. This is a used and rare booksite, not an aquarium booksite but they always have interesting titles, no matter what your interest.

Good luck on your search, dbmet!
