Blue Tang question...

I just got my blue tang on Sunday. Sunday, she was fine, no problems. Monday, she seemed to have ich, but now that's gone away. Yesterday when I came home from work, she was lying in the sand, looking like she was gasping for air, and her colouration was really dull. When I woke up today, she was fine, swimming about the tank, brightly coloured. Now, I just got home from work, and she was against the black waffle-like stuff that lets the water into the overflow. I thought she wasn't alive. Moved her with my net, and she swam away. Now, she's just swimming all around the tank in circles, almost like she's drunk. I'm really not sure what's going on with the poor fish. All my parameters are in check, she's not getting picked on at all, so I'm really not sure. Can anyone chime in?

Thanks

Jason

wait....that's YOUR thread. DOH!

hahaha

My advice....get some duct tape, and tape your hands. Keep your hands out of the tank. Every time you mess around, you stress the Tang...making it even MORE suceptable to Ick/other diseases.

If she's swimming around the tank...that's good. That's what Tangs do. Constantly moving.

If you mean she's swimming in a tight circle / in one spot then that's not good. Sounds like a bladder problem.

But Tangs are VERY active fish...that's why everyone is so upset when someone puts them in a small tank. They need LOTS of room to swim.

Sorry to hear about your tang. sometimes they just don't make it, They spend alot of time going in and out of bags from one holding tank to the next. Not to mention how long they have to stay in a bag during shipping.

Yeah, its a shame that I didn't get to enjoy the tang for alot longer than I did. I just don't seem to have luck with tang's at all. My last one, a naso tang, lasted about a week or two before it passed away too. I'm gonna stay away from them for awhile anyways!
