blue tang problem.....

i have recently set up a quaratine tank and i thuoght it was completelly cycled until i put a blue regal tang in the tank and began feeding it. Everyhting seemed to be fine until i noticed that the blue tang's eyes were cloudy-they usually look black but they are whitish and faded. I ckecked the ammonia and nitrite and they were both high, so i fixed the problem by wc's but his eyes seem to be cloudy still. Is his eyes permanently damaged? is there some medication i can give him for cloudy eyes? what can i do? he seems to be fine with a good appetite fswimming well looks healthy except his eyes.

What are you feeding the tang? Cloudy eye sometimes is related to diet.

I think that should be OK, plus I think its the type of thing that takes a few months to develope with poor diet.

Well thats what you ARE feeding him. How long have you had him? It could be what he was being fed...

but he got him healthy. Anyway, I'm not aware of a cure for him, but I have heard stories of fish with cloudy eyes getting better with improved diet. From what I remember it might be a secondary infection brought on by stress so maybe once he gets into the display with a good diet he'll get better over time. I hope someone with a better knowlege of this can help as far as if there is some type of dip or medication that is tang safe. Just be glad he does not have ICk

Hi, how is your tang doing now? I have a tang that seems to have the same thing going on, but her colors are vibrant and normal. I'm sure it's not ich, it's just a cloudy eye. This is only the 3rd week I've had her. I am thinking this might have been brought on by the stress of shipment. She is eating really good. What is bothering me most now is she was rubbing that bad eye on rocks this evening, I just hoping she isn't making the situation worse.
