Question

Blue leg Hermit crabs?


Forgive me if this is a dumb question....


Do these crabs molt? what i mean is. i have seem them outside of there protective shell. Am i looking at a dead crab?

All crabs molt, and half the time when I see it's molted skin, I think it's dead.

That happened to me with a fw crayfish. I saw the leftovers and thought it was dead.

I have not seem my hermits to that yet. Will the emerald crabs molt too?

yup, they molt. Generally you can tell if it is a molt or a dead crab by seeing if anything is picking at it. If there was dead tissue, other clean up critters would be all over it
