Blue/Green chromis

I am thinking of getting some of these to go in my 30G... Would 3 be enough since these are a schooling fish.... I already have 2 small clowns in the tank now... but I thought these would round my tank out as far as fish go..

they usually only school in groups of 6 or more, but if you buy the three together, they should "hang out" and make a nice addition, playful little buggers

If you have a good skimmer and do regular maintenance I would recommend 5. They tend to do better in odd numbered groups, 5,7,9, etc.

I have 5 chromis in my 30 gal with my baby pacific blue tang. They love it in there. They are always hanging out. Kinda adds more action to the tank. Looks like "Dory" has a good set of friends.

good choice in just keeping the two fish that are in there now. that is about right for a 30g.

BG chromis shoal more than school.

6 fish in a 30 gal is overstocking IMO.. is the tang in there temporarily?

Its hard to find blue tangs over this way... long drive to get them or order them more costly online... so I have a baby one in my 30G as well.... but my bigger tank is on the way I should have it up and running where I can just move the silly fish on over into it...

I think it takes them about a year to get to full size... I also hear putting them in smaller tanks stunts their growth... I hope to have my out of the 30 in 3 months at the latest...

theres nothing wrong w/ keeping it in a smaller tank, as long as you have plan via upgrade or trade

hmmm... i didn't realize there was a given # of fish per gallon. It all depends on where they stay in the tank, what filtration level is in the tank, how they contribute to the tank, adult size, etc. Three green chromis doesn't equal three tangs, right.

I was pretty surprised to see a full grown green chromis... they get pretty big.
