Question

Blue & Yellow Tang

Every where I have read about tangs it has been said not to keep 2 tangs together in the same tank, but a friend that owns a pet store told me that it would be ok if they were both small and around the same size and grow up together in the same tank. Do any of you agree with him or what do you think is best?
THANKS
Rodney

you can put several tangs, you do have to remember though that they each need their space. Don't mix species such as powder brown with powder blue (both acanthuras), and also make sure you put the less territorial"aggressive" in first with the more aggressive later.
Even doing the less aggressive p hepatis then more aggressive z flavences later, the z flavences harrassed the hepetus for a while. ONe trick with them is to overcrowd them, this spreads their aggression, but it also does terror to your biological filtration.
Putting them at same time help with some, but you also have to consider if your bio can withstand that addition without spiking ammonia and nitrite too bad, also in a QT tank, usually aren't large enough for 2 tangs to get along even for a few days.
Loverotties, I thought the "lipstick" was a Naso literatus? if so it and a acanthuras leucosternum, i don't see a great resemblance?

Best if added at the same time. But idealy if they have different body shape usually OK.

Like mentioned earlier need a good size tank.

I have kept three in my 110. Blue, Yellow, & Naso. The Blue & yellow were added at the same time...the Naso about 8 mos later. They was a little bickering for a week or so then all was fine.
