Black specs on yellow tang
My yellow tang has tiny black specs all over his body. They are too small to get a good pic. He is eating and acting normal. The only other fish that's in the tank with him is a small clown that does not have the same specs. I first noticed them a couple of days ago. I have come back from out of town to see that they are more pronouced and bigger.
Any ideas what they might be or how to treat him?

I did a search and it appears to be some kind of parasite. Looks like I'll have to try and get him out to do a freshwater dip. Now I have to do a search on how to do a freshwater dip.

Got one. It was in the tank before the tang and I have seen him cleaning him every now and then.

I had a neon goby that cleaned my tang all of the time, but he disappeared. I think there is a mantis shrimp in there picking off my livestock.

Actually from what I read (on here) is that it isn't nearly as harmful as ich and is easily treatable by doing a FW dip. It is different than ich becasue it isn't destroying the tissue. They are little flatworms that feed on the fish's blood and will die in the FW.
I wonder how long I should keep him in the FW??? One guy had his in the FW for over 5 mins. I guess I'll just have to see how the tang reacts to it.

Thanks Tims. That gives me a better idea of how long to leave him in. Also that I need to do it several days in a row.
I'll report back with my progress.

Report: I did a 2 minute FW dip on him last night. He was actually very calm once I netted him. He just lay still in the bottom of the FW bucket. Once I put him back in the main tank he slowly swam off as nothing happened. Got up this morning and WOLA!... no black specs what-so-ever!!
Thanks for your help everyone!
