Bio-Wheel bad?

I have a Penguin Bio-Wheel that I mix my own carbon and Nitrate Sponge in (Bio-wheel on it) have a 38 gal, 2 power heads,SeaClone Protein Skimmer 100
25-30-lbs of LR 3" corl base , Undergravel filter. I can not get my nitrate under 20 ppm, every thing test out good only the nitrates are high. I do a lot of water changes still stays up. i have a small pink Damselfish 1",Royal Gramma 2 1/2", Tomato Clownfish 1 1/2", Pinkface Wrasse 4", Hawkfish 3" I know i might have a little to many fish. A lot of live plants to try to help with the nitrates. turbo sanil red starfish 7 Blue leg Hermit Crab 2 Bumble Bee Snail. Only feed they as much as they eat no over feeding. And the tank has been up for little under a 1 year. Is the bio-wheel keeping my Nitrates up? Should i take it off? I need Some Help.

Ryan

P.S. you guys and girls ROCK!!!

I have heard that the undergravel filter can be a nitrate trap. How long has your tank been set up? Im sure someone else will come along and help more than what I can. Welcome to TRT.
