Big Shipment on the Way!

9 frags zoanthids -66
candy cane - 2polyp frag -12
2 frags red and blue shroom 40
2 frags orange and blue ric. 50
4 green spot shroom - 20
1 green shroom - 7.50
1 blue ricordea - ?
1 Montipora Digitata frag - 12
1 more frag rainbow zoa's -16

I picked this stuff up on ebay for about 200 bucks including shipping overnight. My tank has been up since 1/31/05 and has gone through a complete cycle. My cleaning crew seems to have taken care of all the algae. (10 astreas, 10 hermits, 1 emerald crab)

All of this should arriving by Friday, so I need to find a home for the hermits. They're getting hungry and keep eyeing the snails and hairy mushrooms. It'll be interesting to see how my first "gluing" experience goes. I'm going to pick up some superglue from wal-mart or something and give it a go.

Right now i'm running 80w of PC in a 20g. I'll be adding a 75 or 150w MH in the near future, not sure which one yet. I have the Remora AquaC HOB skimmer running 24/7 and it seems to be doing an "ok" job. We'll see how it picks up after a couple weeks.

Bold Move. Not sure I could spend $200 on corals on ebay, but looks like you got quite a bit. Are you sure the tank is cycled completely? 6 weeks seems like about the right amount of time, (not knowing how much LR you have and how cured it was) but to add so much to a 6 week old tank? It is 20G, which means you have to be very careful with your water specs in the next 2-3 weeks after the addition. If you get any die off, you need to be on it quickly.

Sorry to be a downer, but you probably want to be more deliberate.

I agree with everyone else on this, for one I think that is too much to add to any system, let along a new set up and 20 g. the biggest mistake I think people make is moving along to fast . I always have good size tanks and never add that much at one time, I hope it works out for You. In the future You may want to take Your Time.

Ok, guys, I don't think this guy was looking to have his bubble burst... I think he was excited and wanted to share it. If he keeps up with water changes and watches his levels ... it might just be ok... he has a good skimmer and is adding more lighting soon, so it seems that he is doing well so far.Lets give hime some words of encouragement.

Good luck and let us know how all your new things do. Starting out is so much fun.

Just don't be mad at the person who sold it to you. When some or all your tank dies. Not to be mean, but thats why we have places like TRT.To learn from others mistakes. Never be afraid to ask a questions. We hate to see people lose money and to kill live stuff and then get frustraded and quit the hobby.

I think you'll be fine, I've added quite a few corals at once to my 20 (b4 I knew of trt); I had a few cyano and hair outbreaks, but I didn't lose anything.

well ummm, thank for the works of encouragement

I'm planning on giving about a quarter of it off to some people in my neighborhood who have some more established tanks.

I have a couple hairy mushrooms and a couple red mushrooms that are doing really good. I guess I'm just a little anxious to have my set-up looking as good as some of thsoe that i've seen on this site!

I started off with some really hardy corals, mushrooms, ricordias, etc. Hopefully I'll be OK! I'll keep everyone updated. Do you really think a month is too soon to add anything?! gosh!

It is a lot at one time but yes you bought them as frags which means frags aren't really that big. Keep up with the water changes, keep checking your levels and you should be fine.

I'll do just that. Remember, I'm still in the beginner stages. That means I'm really motivated to do water changes and tests just about every weekend! I just really hope that I get the frag placement / glueing process down ok. I'm still researching that.

Oh well, i'lll just call tdwyatt if I have any probs!

The glueing is easy. Just don't buy those small tubes of glue because they really only last one time use. I like Loctite brand Super Glue. it comes in a bottle .14 OZ and is a gray bottle with blue ribbed sides. It seems to work very well, you can get a lot of glue out if you want and it last a really long time. But you can use any super glue thats just the one I really think is the best value.

good advice..
.

questions though; where the heck do you get it? Home depot perhaps? There's no way that I can take the live rock out without a serious hassle. So, what do you do? Squirt some gluie on the coral? Squirt some on the LR? I'm clueless!!!
