Best way to hook up a chiller?

I just got my Pacific Coast 1/10HP chiller in. And i'm trying to decide what is the best way for me to hook this up.

If I just hooked it up inline to my return plumbing, would the temperature drop harm my corals?

Or should I hook it up to that it picks water from and returns to the sump?

Just remember that it adds the equivalent of 5' of head pressure due to the small tubing, so if you use your return, it will be cut back the flow substantially.

You should get a pump that will pump at least 400 GPH at 5' head. and you can go from sump to sump, or go from sump to tank for extra flow. If you go from sump to tank, remember to add the height that the water has to travel, so you may have to overcome 10' of total head. I use a mag 7.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the cool water going back to the tank. This size chiller doesn't cool the water all that fast

if your return pump is hard piped you can T it off with a ball valve to feed the chiller. You can adjust the flow with the valve. Run it to the sump or the tank, it won't make a difference. If you run it to the tank remember to use an anti siphon hole to avoid draining the tank in a power outage. You should also put the chiller outside if possible
