best MH reflectors
ok ive been hearing about these reflectors lumen brights or lumen max or something like that...the reason im wondering is i may be coming into a 175 watt MH light and ballast and i would buy a better reflector for it if i get it..this will be hanging over my 20 gallon and i think im gonna try some SPS and maybe a clam..i guess im asking which is the best one?would one 175 watt with the right reflector be enough light over my 20 high tank?anyone know where to get them for a decent price?as always thanks for the constant advice!-drew

The Lumen Brights and The Lumen Max Elite are the best, followed by the Lumen Arc and then the Lumen max3
For the Dimensions of you tr tank, you are going to want to stay wirth the Lumen Max Elite or the Lumen max 3

its saying there are different reflectors for 150 and 250 watts..but it says nothing about for a 175 watt?the lumen max is 22 in wide!thats about 10 inches wider than my whole tank...will it matter?

My favorite are the lumenarc III's =]
a 175 is going to be more than enough for a 20H!
I would go 175 incase you upgrade to a 75G and then you could just pick up another 175 and be set for most LPS and higher placed SPS.

The problem wiht the lumenarc are the size. the lumen max elite are available in a smaller size for smaller tanks... they just don't make them in a 150w version...only 250-400... the do make the lumen max 3's in 150w which I have and love.

If you are mechanically inclined you can build one like these for about $35.

Lumenarc Mini III
Miniature version of our extremely popular Lumenarc 3. For tanks smaller than 2.5' X 2.5' or where a smaller footprint is ideal. Dimensions: 14.5"W x 14.5"L x 6.5"H. Optional A/C kit allows air cooling of the reflector and bulb through 2 4" duct attachments at either side of the reflector and includes glass. Use a few in line to cover your entire tank!
A local club reefer is currently making his just like the post above. Very sweet!
