best light for a 40gal sps tank!?

Thinking 4x96w pc which would be 384 total... or I could do a 2x175w metal halide + some vho... or I can get one 400w metal halide bulb + vho.

Tank will be a 40 long 48x12x16

??? suggestions. Specific products help too. thank you. Please help me shed some light on the subject

2 x 175w MH + VHO actinics sounds very good. Check out our sponsors, they have good deals. Your tank will probably run a little hot with that much light, so be prepared to deal with the heat (fans... chiller).

if you runa pendant light that might help withthe heating , but you will need something to help cool the tank. i agree 2x 175 MH/vho combo would look great

Ditto on the MH. You could do it with VHO but your water would have to be completely nutrient free to get the color. Check around in "The think tank" as there was a thread about this a while back. It discussed the links between nutrients, light and temp and the affect on SPS coloration. MH is the best way to go for sure.
