im sure i have read it before, but the rock i got has been cured, actually the lfs where i got it from let me pick out 75 lbs of it a month ago and he kept it there till i had the cash. so i picked it up today. how long should i wait till i get a clean up crew. i really dont feel like sitting here for the next 5 hrs picking of alge, and boy oh boy i got a ton of alge. also just outa curriosity, how ling before you guys noticed the creatures that only come out at night? i keep checking my tank out with a flash light and so far nothin. i dont even see a crab . but i got a few snails so there keeping me busy. oh and i got a purple mushroom. and 1 other thing i got a great mixture of rock. 30 lbs figi, 20 lbs marshal island, and 25 lbs tonga. it looks really cool.

Just keep checking.. For me it was a while.. But remember Rome was not built in a day.. I would go ahead and add some snails and a mix of hermits.. If the rock has been sitting in the tanks at the LFS that long I dont think you will get much of a spike.. After moving the critters that might have inhabited the rock are still not sure of their new home.. Pull up a chair and do what the rest of us do instead of watch TV.. Watch a glass screen with water behind it..Enjoy.. You are going to get many, many hours of relaxation, frustration, bewilderment, and maybe a little enlightenment..

...why would you buy liverock covered in algae??? We just got some great rock from Dirk in Red Wing. He's got lots of rocks..nice stuff for $4-6 bucks a pound. If it really is covered in bubble algae and aiptasia I'd take it back. You are going to be battling too much too soon. Where are you in mn?? I hope you didn't pay much for that. Oh..and BTW..Dirk might even help out with payments. I didn't know you were live rock shopping or i would have given you his name sooner. I'll pm you his number.

I'm surprised you are happy about having lots of aptasia????

Before you get any fish I would get about 10 pepperment shrimp and let them clean the aptasia off of the rock.

Did you know that a large aptasia can actually kill a fish?
