Best cure for white spot?
What do you guys recommend? My tang and racoon have small signs of white spot. I think this was because i went on vacation for a week, beacause they didnt have it before i left. Is there any natural cure that doesnt involve chemicals? If not, whats the best treatment product.

Garlic is not a cure. It only stimulates their appetite to help with being healthy enough to fight off the infection. There are ways to fight it in a quarantine tank with and without medication... In a display, garlic soaked food, cleaner shrimp and UV can all help a fish get through the current round of ich, but not eliminate it from the tank...

The only way to rid it from a tank is to leave the tank without fish for a minimum of 6 weeks at 78 degrees or higher. Lower temps, slow the life cycle of the parasite down. Treating in tank with garlic and selcone, cleaners and UV is hit or miss. You still may loose them.
Some people believe that moving them to a quarantine tank at this stage is more stress that causes the parasite to gain a stronger foot hold, but I disagree because the treating with hyposalinity is reported to ease their stress and if performed correctly is very effective.
But if I were in your shoes, I would try the food soaked in garlic and selcon and watch for the next 12-24 hours. If it gets worse, post back here. And I just use 100% garlic paste from the spice isle. I place the food in a small amount of RO/DI water, put a little bit of paste in and stir it up. Then pour the liquid out and feed the solid matter to the fish. But I have not had to do this in over four years.
