berlin air lift (and Hello!)

Hello All,

Nice site, I'll be reading old threads for days!!!

I've been slowly transitioning a 29G FOWLR to a 60G reef. I've installed DSB, bought some more LR etc. It was time to start protein skimming so I went to the LFS with the intention of dropping a coupla hundie. The owner of the shop however persuaded me NOT to buy a skimmer (hard to believe isn't it) and instead told me water changes would take care of the nutrients. Well, I decided maybe to DIY the skimmer to save a little $. This lead me to the decision that an 'all-in-one' plexi sump would be the way to go so I can move everything under tank. In the meantime tho, i wanted to get something to skim the water (algae blooms are driving me nuts), after many hours searching the web, I found the Berlin Air Lift to be a very inexpensive air-stone skimmer and decided to try it out. Well i set it up last night and it seems to be doing a great job. I was curious as to whether or not anyone has used this skimmer b4.

Sorry about the rambling post!

I am using one of those skimmers on my 29, I have had it going for about a month now and it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I think that it is kinda hard to get tuned right, and doesn't seem to stay tuned for long.

Welcome to the board!

Welcome to The Reef Tank!

I'm not familiar with that skimmer but even most people that run skimmerless keep one on hand for emergencies.
