G'day Scott,
I had an airlift type skimmer similar to this on my old 20gal and in my opinion it was the biggest waste of money i have ever spent on a fish tank. It gave me very little skimmate at all and you need a large airpump to drive them. Then there is the ongoing cost of buying/finding limewod airstones and replacing them every 3 weeks.

IMO you would be much better off putting this money toward a good aqua c remora or some folks say the cpr backpack is also good. Don't know the prices because im in australia, but i strongly urge you not to buy the airlift. There is a famous saying on TRT, "NEVER SKIMP ON A SKIMMER", it will pay for itself in the long run.
